LMEA EXECUTIVE COUNCIL MEETING MINUTES

October 9, 2006

President D. Pendino called the meeting to order at 4:05PM.

Motion by V. Fedeli to approve the September Executive Council minutes – second by D. Williams. – Approved.

Officer’s Reports:

President’s Report: D. Pendino gave the following report:

VP Support: V. Fedeli reported that job descriptions for secretaries have just been released. They will be given to those in each class for review and feedback. Members will be informed as other job descriptions are released.

1 st Vice President: NR

VP Professional: NR

Secretary Support: NR

Secretary Professional: M. Stettner noted that the District has asked the LMEA to support a districtwide United Way campaign in the coming weeks. Building reps should contact M. Stettner with a name of a building contact person.

Treasurer: D. Mandarino made motion to approve the September treasurer’s report – Approved.

Committee Reports:

Constitution: NR

Elections: NR but D. Pendino reminded about the PSEA House of Delegates election.

IPD: NR

CNC: R. Loue reported they accepted the proposed job coach position. They also listened to the district’s proposed part time weekend custodian position and will discuss this at this months meeting.

FAC: C. SantaMaria reported we are looking to consolidate our Morgan Stanley and Commerce Bank accounts to one insured money market account with better interest returns and fewer fees. C. SantaMaria made a motion that “the Treasurer take the following action at this time and report back at the next Executive Council meeting: 1. Consolidate the existing accounts in the contingency fund into one insured money market account with no annual fees, no minimum balances, and check writing capability. 2. Provide to the Financial Advisory Committee each September a statement on the performance of the contingency fund account including income and costs.” --- second by P. Dawson. Motion passed.

Health & Safety: A. Flicker reported they met recently. Their meetings will be near the end of each month. Send concerns to A. Flicker and L. Giaquinto.

Legislation: G. Rosazza reminded we are trying to make a home email list for updates on legislative issues. All members are encouraged to visit the Capwiz website at www.capwiz.com.

Minority Affairs: NR

PACE: C. SantaMaria announced the kickoff of this year’s PACE contribution drive and also described how PACE dollars work for you. In working for a public school district our jobs and pensions are directly related to legislative decisions. PACE forms must be back to C. SantaMaria by December 1. Again we will have the option for payroll deduction for contributions. The building with the highest percentage of contributing members will win the coveted PACE trophy.

PR&R: P. Dawson and E. Leber gave a brief report on current grievances. We withdrew a grievance on ISS because we filed an unfair labor practice. Please report any unsatisfactory evaluations or disciplinary meetings to P. Dawson or E. Leber ASAP. We cannot make members come to us and force them to identify a problem.

Public Relations: NR

Social: NR

Special Services: NR

Sunshine: D. Williams reminded to send her any information on employee illnesses or deaths in family.

Membership: D. Grumbine reminded to check the membership lists for accuracy.

CARE: M. Rios reported that over the summer their committee was asked to read a book by Beverly Daniel Tatum. The goal of their meeting was to help people recognize their own biases and misunderstandings and how to change them.

Merion: Is the tech survey mandatory? – will be investigated.

Penn Valley : Tech survey request came from their principal via email – will be investigated. Also, will members get notice of PSEA recommended candidates? – See the PSEA website. Also, will there be a new teacher workshop this year - not in LMEA but the Mideastern Region will host one. Call the Region office at 1-800-492-2727 for info. If member going on maternity leave for part of year could she do ISDO/GSDO now and not be deducted the ISDO/GSDO day? – will be investigated.

Penn Wynne: Part-time member asked to attend 8:30 IEP meeting when she works 9 -1 – have member contact D. Pendino or P. Dawson.

Bala Cynwyd: NR

Welsh Valley : NR

Lower Merion : NR

Harriton: NR

Building and Grounds: NR

Administration: NR

Transportation LM: NR

D. Mandarino made motion to adjourn. Second by G. Rosazza - the meeting was adjourned at 5:17 PM.
