General Membership Meeting

August 28, 2007

President C. SantaMaria called the meeting to order at 9:57 AM. P. Peterson made motion made to approve the May 2007 General Membership Meeting minutes. Second by P. Dawson. - Approved.

Officer’s Reports:

President’s Report: C. SantaMaria gave the following report:

1. Thanks to the food service dept for preparing the breakfast this morning.

2. Highlights of the LMEA and merits of a merged local between professional and education support professionals.

3. Introduction of LMEA officers.

4. School board elections are in November – a “Board Elections” committee will be formed in September chaired by A. Flicker to support pro-education candidates in the school district.

5. Applecore items were discussed.

VP Support: V. Fedeli reported that handbooks are now being revised. Also, members with CDL licenses should report any moving violations – either on the job or in your personal vehicle - to PSEA to possibly have any points reduced or eliminated. Job descriptions are progressing – if interested in helping on this committee contact Vic. Over the summer, the important seniority arbitration was won. Finally, Victor thanked all for support in May’s LMEA elections.

Treasurer: D. Mandarino made motion to approve the Treasurer’s report – Approved.

FAC: C. SantaMaria reported we will be consolidating two accounts into one for a better return.

Health & Safety: NR

Legislation: Video shown on what PACE contributions did in last year’s elections. The video is linked on the LMEA website www.lmeaonline.org C. SantaMaria showed some of the important links on our site.

Minority Affairs : NR

PACE: G. Rosazza reported on the benefits of PACE. All members are encouraged to contribute to this worthwhile program. Association dues cannot be used for this purpose. We are asking members to contribute $1/week to “S-PAC” and $1/month to “F-PAC”. Contribution forms will be coming out soon.

PR&R: NR

CARE: NR

ACT 1: C. SantaMaria gave a brief summary/update on Act 1. Also, the results of a Lower Merion Voter Survey were presented. The upcoming local school board election in November is critical to the continued progress of the LMHS construction process and to the many worthwhile programs our District offers. We must monitor Act 1 compliance and developments, and also make the Lower Merion community more aware of our contributions to the successes in the District.
