General Membership Meeting

March 12, 2008

President C. SantaMaria called the meeting to order at 4:03 PM.

P. Peterson made motion made to approve the October 2007 General Membership Meeting minutes. Second by A. Avellino. - Approved.

Officer’s Reports:

President: C. SantaMaria gave the following report:

VP Support: V. Fedeli noted that job description drafts for staff nurses have been distributed. They will have a meeting here on 3/25 to review.

1 st Vice President: NR

VP Professional: NR

Secretary Support: NR

Secretary Professional: NR

Treasurer: The ING account now represents our cash reserves. D. Mandarino made motion to approve the February Treasurer’s report – Approved.

Committee Reports:

Constitution: NP – but discussion ensued regarding the election of an At-Large Minority rep.

Elections: Elections for the NEA-RA were held at the end of the meeting.

IPD: NP

CNC: They will meet on March 26 th – still working on job descriptions.

FAC: They have a budget meeting later in March.

Health & Safety: A. Flicker reminded to contact H&S if any problems but only after trying to resolve the problem within the building first.

Legislation: NR

Minority Affairs : NR

PACE: NP

PR&R: V. Fedeli noted they have several arbitrations coming up.

Public Relations: NR

Social: Banquet on May 29 at Eviva on Montgomery Ave. – let L. McDevitt or A. Avellino know of anyone retiring.

Special Services: A. Avellino reported that ATT is offering a 10% discount not 18%.

Sunshine: D. Williams reminded to let her know of any illnesses/deaths.

Membership: NP

CARE: NP

Act 1: NR

Read Across America: NR

Educational Foundation: NP

New Business: C. SantaMaria explained the voting procedures and opened the floor to nominations for representatives to the NEA-RA. No nominations were taken from the floor. P. Peterson made motion to close nominations – sec. by D. Mandarino – nominations were closed. Elections for the NEA-RA took place. C. SantaMaria distributed a sheet listing the openings for the May 2008 LMEA Elections. C. SantaMaria made motion that the current vacancies on CNC and PR&R be put in these minutes – sec. D. Mandarino – motion passed. The current LMEA CNC vacancies are in Elementary, Senior, Clerical, and Transportation. The current LMEA PR&R vacancies are in Senior and Transportation.

The following members were elected to represent the LMEA at the NEA-RA in 2008:

Professional: C. SantaMaria, A. Flicker, A. Avellino, M. Stettner, and P. Peterson. 1 st Alternate is Rodney Taylor. 2 nd Alternate is Myra Rios.

Support Professional: M. Mixon, J. Ruse, and D. Williams.

 

P. Peterson made motion to adjourn, second by A. Flicker. The meeting was adjourned at 4:46 PM.
