LMEA EXECUTIVE COUNCIL MEETING MINUTES

January 14, 2008

President C. SantaMaria called the meeting to order at 4:05PM.

C. SantaMaria made motion to accept the December minutes – second by A. Flicker. Passed.

Officer’s Reports:

President’s Report: C. SantaMaria gave the following report:

Secretary Professional: NR

Treasurer: D. Mandarino made a motion to approve the Treasurer’s report for December. Approved.

Committee Reports:

Constitution: NR

Elections: NP

IPD: NR

CNC: R. Loue reported their next meeting will be on January 31.

FAC: C. SantaMaria noted a report will be coming out in February.

Health & Safety: A. Flicker reported their next meeting will be at the end of January. Again please try to rectify issues within the building first before coming to the committee.

Legislation: NR but question about possible changes in timelines for school psychologists to complete evaluations from 60 school days to 60 calendar days – will be investigated.

Minority Affairs: M. Mixon reported the Minority Leadership Conference will be March 14-16 in Pittsburgh.

PACE: A. Pass reported on contributions so far. Generally contributions are greater this year. If you still want to participate, the contributions can only be in check/cash now – too late for deductions.

PR&R: P. Dawson reported that it’s evaluation time. Please report any unsatisfactories to Pete or Vic ASAP. Also, when considering a personal day please remember the 7 day rule – if you know more than 7 days in advance put it in AESOP 8+ days ahead of time.

Public Relations: NR

Special Services: NR

Sunshine: NR

Membership: D. Grumbine reminded and thanked reps to/for attention to membership lists.

CARE: M. Rios reported their next meeting is January 15 th.

Act 1: NR

NEA Read Across America: D. Mandarino reported they will present to each elementary school a set of 13 Dr. Seuss books and book marks to LM public libraries.

Education Foundation: D. Simon reported there is a need for volunteers at Bethel Academy. The Academy’s goal is to close the achievement gap. This is a good way to put ourselves out there in a positive way by helping the community. Anyone who can read can help. Contact them at bethelacademy@gmail.com. Also, the Foundation would like to hear from past grant recipients.

Gladwyne: NR

Merion: NR

Penn Valley : NR

Penn Wynne: NR

Bala Cynwyd: Member not notified of new vision coverage, and old forms are on the District website. Will be investigated.

Welsh Valley : NR

Lower Merion : Concern about method for reminding about Executive Council meetings – can we remind via email? – we can’t really use district email in this way. Also, there will be no access to some lots at LMHS soon due to construction. Possibly call ahead for information.

Harriton: NR
