LMEA GENERAL MEMBERSHIP MEETING MINUTES

October 19, 2005

President D. Pendino called the meeting to order at 4:04 PM.

C. SantaMaria made motion made to approve the September 2005 General Membership Meeting minutes. Second by P. Peterson. - Approved.

Officer’s Reports:

President’s Report: D. Pendino welcomed all to the meeting and cited purpose of the General Membership Meetings.

VP Support: NR

1 st Vice President: A. Flicker reported that we held our annual New Staff Workshop on 10/18 and thanked the officers and P. Dawson for assisting.

VP Professional: NR

Secretary Support: NR

Secretary Professional: NR

Treasurer: D. Mandarino noted the Treasurer’s report for September 2005. It was approved at the Executive Council meeting on 10/10.

Committee Reports:

Constitution: NR – but D. Pendino reported this committee will be active this year – if interested in assisting on this committee contact P. Dawson. P. Peterson added that he will help.

Elections: Elections for the PSEA House of Delegates were held near the end of the meeting.

IPD: NR

CNC: C. SantaMaria reported they will meet on 10/20 for the first of 4 meetings this year. Monitoring of how the contract is being interpreted is ongoing.

FAC: NR – but D. Pendino reported we are in our new office almost 1 year and our finances look good.

Health & Safety: A. Flicker reported they met in September. Let A. Flicker or L. Giaquinto know if there are any issues.

Legislation: NR – but D. Pendino added that members should keep watch on developments with “Back-End-Referendum” legislation.

Minority Affairs : NR

PACE: C. SantaMaria reported he is receiving PACE contribution forms.

PR&R: V. Fedeli reported briefly on current grievances. Some concerns are maternity, swiping in, civic duty issues, and unsatisfactory evaluations.

Public Relations: NR but D. Pendino added our website has been upgraded thanks to A. Wuest.

Social: NR

Special Services: NR

Sunshine: NR

Membership: NR

CARE: NR

New Business: Question about when the new Support Handbooks will be distributed – it is being printed now – distribution will be sometime in the future. No “ISDO/GSDO” for support – district is responsible for coming up with the 14 hours of flex time for support professionals. Discussion ensued regarding Instructional Assistants and flex time.

 

The following members were elected as delegates to the PSEA House of Delegates for 2005-06: Professional: Mike Stettner, Pete Peterson, Dom Pendino, Arlene Flicker, Glenn Rosazza, Anne Pass, Russ Loue, and Leslie Pratt.

Support: Clarence Rowland, Charles Whiting, Darlene Mandarino, Linda DiSantis, Vic Fedeli, Debbie Williams, Larry Giaquinto, and Lisa McDevitt. Neil Pancoast is an alternate.

D. Mandarino made motion to adjourn, second by A. Flicker. The meeting was adjourned at 4:40 PM
