LMEA GENERAL MEMBERSHIP MEETING MINUTES

May 10, 2006

President D. Pendino called the meeting to order at 4:04 PM.

Motion made to approve the March General Membership meeting minutes. - Approved.

Treasurer: D. Mandarino made motion to approve the Treasurer’s report – Approved.

Committee Reports:

Constitution: NR

Elections: E. DeStefano reminded about the upcoming LMEA elections. Also, each building must conduct a building rep election ASAP. Please send results of building rep elections to D. Pendino and E. DeStefano. The ballots for the May 16 LMEA elections must be returned in the boxes to the LMEA office after voting is completed on the 16 th. The opportunity for nominations from the floor passed with no new nominations added to the ballot.

IPD: NR

CNC: NR

FAC: NR

Health & Safety: A. Flicker reported they will be meeting May 25 th. Little progress with heat issues at WVMS. Question if district will progress with results from feasibility study on air conditioning – will be investigated.

Legislation: The TABOR bill has been pulled temporarily from the voting calendar thanks in part to our efforts. Again, members are encouraged to support pro-public education candidates. Members can go to www.capwiz.com/psea and enter their zip code to view your local elected officials and also easily send email to those officials.

Minority Affairs: NR

PACE: C. SantaMaria noted the final report will be coming in June as will the presentation of the coveted trophy. Pro-public education candidates are supported regardless of party affiliation.

PR&R: In general, administration seems to be trying to change working conditions – grievances deal with this issue. Let P. Dawson or V. Fedeli know of any unsatisfactory evaluations.

Public Relations: NR

Social: A. Flicker reported on the upcoming LMEA banquet. The banquet will be held Wednesday May 31 st at Clothier Hall. Checks should be made out to LMEA. Reps should return forms and checks to A. Flicker or L. McDevitt.
