President’s Report: D. Pendino gave the following report:

1. ICC/SDC – D. Pendino discussed current membership lists for ICC/SDC and stressed the importance of this committee.
2. 2004-05 District Calendar – in the past the proposed calendar was sent to the LMEA, HSA, and others for input. This is not necessarily the case now. A. Flicker noted that September 17 should be a holiday (it is not listed on the proposed calendar). This would end the student year on June 17, 2005.

5. Weingarten Rights cards – will be distributed to members.
6. Building reps should check if membership lists are accurate.
7. Applecore items were discussed. – Be sure to read the upcoming Applecore for information on the gift giving policy, 457 plans, the High School Capital Improvement Plan, and other issues. The next unit meeting will be Wednesday February 4th at 3:00 at Bala Cynwyd Middle School.

VP Support: V. Fedeli gave the following report:

1. NEA-RA ESP state ballot was recently mailed. Out of 31 candidates on this ballot none are from the LMEA. However, V. Fedeli is asking ESP members if they would support 3 candidates from our area. They are Charles Thompson from Radnor Transportation ESP, Muriel Steele from West Chester Secretary/Aides ESP, and Diane Crocco from Colonial Food Service ESP. Be sure to send the ballots in by January 31st.
2. D. Mandarino and V. Fedeli attended a workshop titled “Settlement Task Force” with the objective of how to develop a strategy for achieving a contract settlement. This workshop was held at the new MidEast Region office near Montgomeryville.
3. Just a reminder to all AV Tech, 195-day secretaries, and A372 Aides. Last year these classifications worked an extra day. Through a grievance they were awarded (1) one compensation day to be taken during the 2003-04 school year. If you have any questions call 610-331-8015.

VP Professional: A. Flicker briefly reminded about some worthwhile PSEA/NEA benefits. AIG insurance is supported by PSEA – and A+ insurance is supported by NEA. Call 1.866.680.5142 for more information.
