Health Insurance Benefits
Please read Article 43 and 44 of our contract to learn about Health Care Insurance benefits. If you have any questions about the benefits you are entitled to receive please call the LMEA.
You can familiarize yourself with the health, prescription, dental, vision and flexible spending plans by visiting www.lmsd.org, then to Virtual Employment, and then to New Employees Forms. Other descriptions for the plans are found at the Independence Blue Cross, Aetna, and Delta Dental websites. A limited number of printed brochures may be picked up in Human Resources
Seminars prior to the open enrollment period (when you can change plans) will be conducted by IBC and Aetna. The open enrollment period will be in late May/early June. Specific dates and times will be announced later in the year.
If you have any questions about the benefits, please contact Barbara Pollack, Benefits Specialist, in Human Resources
Minutes, Apple Cores, archives, classified ads (new sub-section), and other information can be found at the LMEA’s web-site www.lmeaonline.org. Please take a few minutes and visit our site.
District Handbooks
Please read your handbook to learn about policies and protocols you are expected to follow. While the District seeks LMEA input in writing the handbooks, the District is not required to use the recommendations of the LMEA. The policy and protocols in the handbooks are managerial rights. They are not part of the Contract. The LMEA ensures that the practices and protocols in the handbooks do not violate the contract or the law.
Problems with NCLB?
PSEA and NEA are seeking major changes in the current version of the NCLB. Please share your experiences implementing this act by going to www.psea.org; select Contact PSEA, select ESEA Report Form.
It is crucial that your representatives in Congress understand the impact this act has had on your classrooms. They need to know what is happening in your schools as a result of the requirements of NCLB or as a result of the lack of education dollars due to federal and state unfunded mandates.
PSEA will gather the information and make it available to selected members of Congress to support our efforts to change the law.
What kinds of stories should you report? The best will tell PSEA how the law and the lack of funding are directly affecting your students and your ability to teach them.
