Mideastern PSEA Region Golf Classic – June 28,
2004
This year will be the fifth year of the MER Golf Classic.
In prior years, thousands of dollars was raised for designated charities.
This year’s proceeds are being raised for the Public Education Builds
Communities Fund. In order to make this event as successful as possible,
the MER would like to have as many participants as possible. The more the
merrier. Please see your building rep for entry forms.
Open Enrollment
During this year’s open enrollment period
(to be announced), you have many decisions to make concerning your type
of health care and prescription coverage. Representatives from the insurance
carriers AETNA and Independence Blue Cross will be available to meet with
you on May 27 from 3:00PM to 5:30PM in the Board and Conference Room in
the Administration Building. Depending on your needs you may choose from
the following:
Health Insurance

Core Plans – District pays 100% of the premium
for employee and eligible dependents.

Independence Blue Cross Personal Choice Option 15
with Select Drug 10-20-35

Aetna U.S. Healthcare Patriot V Point of Service with
$5 generic/$10 non-generic Prescription Plan
-
Non-Core Plans – Employee pays the premium
difference between the non-core plan and the lower of the core plans.
Mandatory payroll deduction will be taken.

Keystone Health Plan East HMO with $1.00generic/$3.00non-generic
Prescription Plan
-
Aetna US Healthcare HMO with $2.50 Prescription Plan
-
Independence Blue Cross Indemnity with $250/$500 Major
Medical deductible
-
Opting Out – 25% of the current premium
of the coverage for which the employee is eligible
Flexible Spending Account
The district offers the option of using pre-tax dollars to
pay for unreimbursed medical and/or dependent care expenses. The minimum
amount to put into a Medical Flexible Spending Account is $200
and the maximum is $2,000.
The Dependent Care Account limit is $5,000. Anyone
who wants to start or continue contributing to these Section 125 plans must
complete new enrollment applications.
You may also make a change to your disability insurance. Keep in mind that
reducing the elimination period or signing up for the coverage may be subject
to medical underwriting.
LMEA Spring Banquet
This year, the LMEA Spring Retirement Banquet will be held
at Drexelbrook on Wednesday, June 2nd. This is always a spectacular event.
Please come and celebrate. The cost is $35.00. See you building reps for
details.

LMEA Unit / Officers Meetings
Throughout the year, unit meetings will be held prior to officer’s
meetings at all buildings. June’s meeting will be held Wednesday,
May 26 at Cynwyd. Meetings for other buildings will be announced monthly
in the AppleCore and posted in your building. Unit meetings give you the
chance to make suggestions and voice concerns with your LMEA officers.
