In your mailbox is a packet of information that answers frequently asked questions about Special Education and the dispensing of medication to students. Please keep on file for reference.

Your Continuing Professional Education Responsibilities

Act 48 of 1999 requires all Pennsylvania educators to complete 180 activity hours or 6 collegiate or CEU credits every 5 years in order to maintain an active certification. To check your Act 48 status go to the PDE website, www.pde.state.pa.us. Under Access Services, click on “Act 48 Reporting System”. Choose “Select an Educator’s continuing education progress”. Enter your social security number.

LMEA email Database

Please email Glenn Rosazza at rozz347@yahoo.com using your private email address. The LMEA is creating an email database of its members. An electronic transfer of information will eliminate errors. This database will replace our current one. So please, email this information even if you are currently receiving email communications from the LMEA.

Next summer and thereafter, negotiations updates will be sent via email only. The LMEA will continue to use email to contact you about political events and stealth legislation that may need immediate attention.

LMEA Unit / Officers Meetings

Throughout the year, unit meetings will be held prior to officers meetings at all buildings. December’s meeting will be held Monday, December 1 at 3:35 at Merion. Meetings for other buildings will be announced monthly in the AppleCore and posted in your building. Unit meetings give you the chance to make suggestions and voice concerns with your LMEA officers.

Executive Council meetings are held the second Monday of the month in the LMEA office at 4:00PM except the months of November and April: November 17 and April 19.

Officers Meetings are held the Wednesday before Executive Council meetings. Locations and times will be announced.
