Snow Days
The number of school closings due to inclement weather may necessitate opening schools during the week of Spring Break. According to the Contract, employees shall be granted five personal days per year (three days with full pay and 2 days with 1/2 pay for support or minus the pay of a substitute for professionals). Employees shall not be granted personal days immediately preceding or following a holiday. Employees may request an exception for emergencies by writing a letter to the Superintendent via Human Resources. Decisions are made on a case-by-case basis. Please do not request an exception until workdays are scheduled during Spring Break.

LMEA General Membership Meeting
There will be a General Membership Meeting on March 19, 2003 at 7:30PM in the Staff Development Center. Agenda items include LMEA elected position nominations, elections to the NEA-RA, and voting on a proposed LMEA constitution change. Please plan to attend.

Report on the Special General Membership Meeting – February 4
The LMEA Special General Membership Meeting lived up to the hype. The meeting was well attended. Gary Smith delivered a provocative and informative program. There were interesting Q&As and comments. The LMEA will continue to educate members about ESEA and PA compliance through Executive Council, General Membership Meetings, and newsletters.

LMEA Night with the Philadelphia 76ers
Come join us for a night of fun and excitement at the 76ers game. For every ticket purchased for the game against the Chicago Bulls, $5 will be donated to Lower Merion Township Scholarship Fund. Order tickets using the forms distributed or call Brad McCleary at 215-952-7324.

LMEA Unit /Officers Meetings
Throughout the year, unit meetings will be held prior to officers meetings at all buildings. April’s meeting will be held Wednesday, April 2 at 3:35PM at Merion. Meetings for other buildings will be announced in the monthly AppleCore and posted in your building. Unit meetings give you the chance to make suggestions and voice concerns with your LMEA officers.

Executive Council meetings are held the second Monday of the month in the LMEA office at 4:00PM except the months of November and April: November 18 and April 7.
